[ But, fine, he'll explain it. Deep breath. ]
After I regenerated into Ten, we landed on Earth right before an invasion from a species called the Sycorax. Regeneration always has some sort of... consequence, such as... knocking me out, or giving me a craving for apples that I turn out to hate and eventually ends up in fish fingers and custard, and that one knocked me out. So when I finally woke up, with the help of tea, the Sycorax had taken the TARDIS onto their ship and to get them away I had to challenge their leader to a duel.
He cut off my hand, but thanks to my having only recently regenerated a lot of that energy was still in my body so I was able to grow a new hand. I saved the one that got cut off and a decent time later... A few years? I got shot by... a Dalek. It was a Dalek, yeah. But rather than regenerate, I redirected the energy into the container that held my hand, and when a friend of mine touched that, it created Theta. Half human, half Time Lord, but in a different way than River and with all my memories.
